This year, Brandon and I both decided that we were NOT going to use our income tax return money to pay bills, like we have every year since we've been married. So, we decided to get new living room furniture! The only new furniture that we have had since we've been married has been our bed, which we bought when we got married, and our TV stand/entertainment center that we got a few years ago. It is so nice to have matching furniture instead of a Hines 57 mashup! We got a couch, loveseat, and a recliner...all brown leather. The best part about it all was that we paid straight up cash for it all! It feels so liberating to be able to do that. (AND..we will be credit card debt free in one month!)
So, while I LOOOVVVE my new furniture, it did make the room dark. So, I went to Hobby Lobby and got some cute fabric, and made some throw pillows to go on my couches! It has really lightened up the room! I only have three made so far, and can't wait to have the time to be able to make the rest. And they are SO easy! All you do is cut your fabric to the size you want. (20x20 makes a good sized pillow). Put the right sides together, and sew around with a 1 inch seam, and be sure to leave an opening to flip right side out, about 4 inches long. Then stuff it, and sew the hole shut! That's it! If you want to put embellishments on it, be sure to do that before you sew the two pieces together.

Another thing that's been going on in our house...Brandon's new hobby of traditional wet shaving. He has become a HUGE enthusiast, and even got our friend Adam on board....for about two days. Last weekend, we scoured the flea markets in town looking for vintage double-edge razors for the boys....and BINGO! We found a whole tub full of goodies! So Brandon and Adam both got a DE razor, took them home, disinfected them VERY well, and tested them out. You can read more about it all here and here.

I am so glad that Brandon has found a hobby that he loves! And, I am also glad that he has yet to hack half of his face off!

Early congrats on the debt free from credit cards! Way to go!! We're teaching a group in our Momentum (FPU for the whole church) series.
Also, good job on the pillows. So cute.
